Born in Adana in 1975, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Barış Çakır entered Çukurova Faculty of Medicine in 1993 after graduating from Çukurova Electrical Anatolian Technical High School. During his technical high school education, he worked in “manual skill development workshops” for 4 years. Therefore, he planned to choose a surgical branch where he could use this skill after graduating from medical school.

He started his Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery training at Kartal Education and Research Hospital in 1999. He continued his studies on microsurgery, one of the most difficult surgical branches. He performed nearly 500 microsurgical operations during his education at Kartal Education and Research Hospital. He worked on fingertip avulsions in children.

During his studies, he developed a new “vascular suture technique” and prepared his thesis on this subject. He presented the vascular suture technique he developed at the 2004 National Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Congress and won the “first prize in the experimental branch assistant presentation competition” with this study. He worked on muscle movements in the repair of cleft lip, which is a congenital anomaly, and the muscle suture technique he developed was awarded the “first prize in the assistant presentation competition in the clinical branch”.

In 2004, he worked with Dr. Serdar Eren at the Media Park clinic in Cologne, Germany for 1 month. During his assistant training, he published 11 international and 8 national articles and made 9 oral presentations at national congresses. After his specialization, he became interested in sculpture and art history in order to achieve more successful aesthetic surgery results. He received sculpture education at the Fine Arts Department of Isparta Süleyman Demirel University. He continued his sculpture education at the Fine Arts Department of Malatya İnönü University. He continues his sculpture and drawing education with Yusuf Başoğlu. Assoc. Prof. Barış Çakır is married and has two children.

Assoc. Prof. Barış Çakır is the first Turkish doctor to break new ground in the world with his rhinoplasty (nose aesthetic) surgeries that he performs “without disrupting the natural structure of the nose”. His own inventions, “Çakır Polygons” and Çakır Nasal Bone Rasp” are used by his colleagues worldwide in rhinoplasty surgeries. Since he combines his passion for his profession with his love for sculpture, he performs each surgery with the mastery of a competent doctor and a delicate sculptor.

Barış Çakır, who performs more than 200 rhinoplasty surgeries per year, organizes rhinoplasty courses worldwide as well as international congresses in Turkey.

The reason behind Barış Çakır being one of the most invited and applauded speakers in the world is that he does his job with his love of art. The famous plastic surgeon, who provides services in his clinic in Nişantaşı, performs his surgeries at the American Hospital.
